How to Clean Mother of Pearl Tiles
Cleaning mother of pearl tiles is quick and easy. These iridescent tiles are made from the shells of fresh water oysters. Despite being 2mm thick, they are more durable than they look. Some helpful tips on how to clean your mother of pearl tiles are below.
It’s important to use a mild detergent. Read detergent labels and stay away from anything abrasive or that has ammonia or any type of acid in it. We recommend mild soap and water.
Pay Attention When Cleaning
Given the fact that most mother of pearl tiles are made from calcium carbonate, it’s important to make sure that you don’t let any cleaning agents sit on the tiles for extended amounts of time. This is because the calcium carbonate has a tendency to absorb things which in turn may weaken it. Clean as you go, and avoid anything that has abrasive qualities such as scouring pads and sandpaper.
